An Evaluation of the English Language Textbook Series "Flying High" for Secondary Schools from Supervisors’, Teachers’ and Pupils’ Perspective in Al-Qurayyat Governorate in Saudi Arabia

 : Abstract
The present study attempted to evaluate Flying High for Saudi Arabia (FHSA) series for the secondary stage in light of seven domains which embodied general appearance, topic content, social and cultural contexts, language content, teaching methods, language skills and learning objectives. The researcher used a close questionnaire of 60 items which was given to EFL supervisors, teachers and students while the other instrument was a set of interviews with teachers. The sample of the study randomly consisted of 5 supervisors, 40 teachers and 220 students. The supervisors’ sample consisted of all supervisors in the above governorate while the teachers’ sample represented all teachers' who were teaching Flying High textbooks in the secondary stage. Results revealed that the respondents agreed on the suitability of Flying High textbooks series. The Supervisors and teachers had positive view about the textbook Practice and Testing. There were statistically significant differences between male (supervisors & teachers) and female (supervisors & teachers) in their perspective about the General Appearance of the textbook in favor of male supervisors and teachers. Meanwhile, students had positive view about the General Appearance of the textbook. There were statistically significant differences between male and female students in their perspective about the appropriateness of Flying High textbook for Saudi Arabia in terms of the general appearance, Topic Content, language content, teaching methods in favor of female students. In light of the findings of this study, the researcher presented a set of recommendations to the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia ,fellow researchers and English supervisors and teachers.
